DELTORA QUEST by Emily Rodda

Leif, Barda, and Jasmine are on a dangerous quest to find the hidden gems of the Belt of Deltora. They go to seven different places to search for seven gems with special powers. They are trying to save the land from the evil shadow lord which has brought misfortune, terror and misery upon the land. The only way to save them from this evil is to find the gems and give them to the heir of Adin, the first King of Deltora. So the trio travel to the different places and defeat the guardians of the gems.
